National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day, celebrated annually on May 16th, recognizes and honors the significant contributions, resilience, and courage of older LGBTQ+ individuals who paved the way for greater rights and acceptance, while also highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by LGBTQ+ seniors, encouraging intergenerational dialogue and support for culturally competent care. Established by Nate Sweeney (SAGE) and added to the National Day Registry by Chase Brexton Health Care, it’s a time for storytelling, community building, and reflecting on the progress and needs of the elder LGBTQ+ community
