Book Club – Prose & Pride

If you love reading, community discussion, and supporting LGBTQ+ voices, this is the space for you. Book club is held on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 2-4pm. The location is either the Universalist Unitarian Church of Joliet or the Gala Insurance Group in downtown Joliet, depending on the number of RSVPs.

We select a variety of books/topics, and we try to feature local authors as much as we can. If there is a LGBTQIA+ book you think we should definitely check out, please send your suggestion(s) to bookclub@jolietpridenetwork.org.

“With modern censorship and book bans increasingly targeting diverse voices, championing LGBTQIA+ authors is an act of quiet resistance. It preserves vital history, nurtures young minds searching for a language to understand themselves, and proves to the publishing world that these stories matter. When we purchase, read, and share these books, we don’t just support art—we help ensure that everyone, regardless of who they are or who they love, has a safe place to see themselves whole.” – Penguin Books
